This model, an evolution of the original Makaira, has been optimized to deliver extreme torque thanks to lower-speed gears and an oversized handle.
At the heart of the reel is its rigid, fully machined aluminum frame, crafted from a single piece, which guarantees the ultimate in precision alignment, tolerances, and resistance to twist and pressure. Okuma's 2-Speed Gear System technology allows you to switch between a high-speed retrieve for quick line pickup or a powerful low-speed ratio for maximum torque during the fight, with lightning-fast gear changes thanks to the unique shift design.
The Dual Force Drag (DFD) lever drag system provides an incredibly smooth and powerful drag output. Positioned on the right side of the spool, this patented drag uses a pull bar system to maintain alignment and relieve pressure from the frame. The addition of a custom-designed thrust bearing alleviates side load, ensuring flawless operation even at the highest drag settings.
