The 45 mm spool, combined with the Slow Cross Wrap (SCW) line positioning system, guarantees extremely long casts and optimal line control. The combination of slow spooling of the cross line and the longcast spool with optimized casting edge minimizes friction during casting, thus promoting greater casting distance. The reel is equipped with a robust Digigear II gear and a torsion-resistant rotor made of Zaion V material, which ensures efficient power transmission under load and facilitates the retrieval of heavy fish from long distances. The extra strong stainless steel axle gives the reel remarkable drag resistance and great durability. The QDM braking system offers precise adjustment, allowing quick adaptation to fishing conditions and close  drilling situations. The new Daiwa 23 Emblem Surf 45 SCW QD confirms the winning formula of the previous model, further improving it both in terms of build quality and look. Both body and rotor were built in the innovative ZAION V material: a carbon-based composite material, lighter and more resistant than traditional materials and totally free from corrosion. The weight of the new Emblem is in fact reduced by 25 grams compared to the previous generation. The new 45 spool is Ultra Longa Cast with a Shallow profile (0.30-300m) facilitating the use of thin wires to maximize casting distance. A second Long Cast spool with higher capacity (0.35-300m) is supplied. The spooling system can count on the tested Slow Cross Wrap technology, the slow spooling with crossed coils which guarantees optimal line pick-up. The new Emblem is also equipped with an Air Bail type hollow bail arm, while the clutch is the new QDM, more modulable and precise than the previous standard QD. Magsealed technology, the special magnetized oil membrane patented by Daiwa, protects the internal mechanics from the corrosive action of salt air, an important feature for prolonged use in a marine environment.
